Community Support Worker

Brief Program Description

In this Combined Delivery program, a student uses technology to access the learning and training to become a certified professional. The course includes a combination of online, in person and work experience to educate the student. In the course the student participates in a variety of activities designed to impart the knowledge, skills and attitude of how to be a professional Community Support Worker. The 600-hour program is divided up into 480 contact hours (these are hours that the student spends online in class or related activities with specific instructors and peers, specific in person instruction and a further 120 hours in a practical supervised work program where the student learns on the job. The work experience is directly supervised by professionals in the organization with an Eclipse College instructor who oversees the placement off site. Eclipse uses Zoom and Google Drive to communicate with students both one on one and in groups. All course materials, discussions, submission of assignments are delivered over Zoom. Students are trained on the use of shared documents and files on during the first weeks of class.
